About LISFA

A concert hall filled with the sounds of beautiful string music. It was this profoundly simple idea in the spring of 1956, which sparked the great moments that comprise the rich history of the Long Island String Festival.

From humble beginnings, 3 string orchestras for all of Long Island, the organization has continued to grow. In 1963, Nassau and Suffolk each had their own festival. Once again, the immense success of LISFA made it necessary in 1998 to change to a 4 orchestra design in both counties.

The success of LISFA lies in the strength of the string teachers on Long Island, their talented students, the parents who support their musical development and the quality of the conductors who together celebrate the power of music.
